The Aubergine sofa is a fine example of contemporary furniture design created by Xavier Lust. The striking element for me is the wonderful shape of the sofa. The view from above highlights the distinct curve that follows the sofa from left to right. Even from behind, the view of Aubergine elicits a wonderful backdrop for a living room. I find the overall shape of Aubergine to be tasteful and frankly, quite cool. Measurements: 103cm x 213cm x 112cm. More information: here.

Sigma is a new living room sectional from Italian furniture maker Natuzzi. Pictured in a soft cream color this transitional piece is suited for many living rooms whether they be large luxurious homes to a bachelor apartment. Sigma's design promotes socializing among family members or guests since there will be close proximity and quite possibly facing each other. My favorite element on the sectional is the wonderful arm pillow. It is large and comfy making for a great headrest while relaxing watching television. More information: here.

Designer Hella Jongerius reminds us that the modern sofa does not need usual characteristics or symmetry to capture our attention. Her "Vitra Polder" sofa extends the typical lines of the modern sofa to a multi-colored asymmetrical seating surface with an emphasis on low, flat, and horizontal. This super retro-mod sofa consists of a wooden frame cushioned with foam and upholstered with a technical fabric that serves as a platform with four conspicuously voluminous, elongated cushions in five fabrics of coordinating colors. As the name may have implied the Polder was commissioned by Vitra in fabric or leather in various sizes with subtle features like contrasting stitching and buttons made from mother of pearl. See the entire collection of uniquely stylish home furnishings from jongeriuslab.com.

The Newtone sofas from Moroso Furniture feature a rounded shape that adds beauty to any living room. The curve on these models moves from one end to the next. At one end is a wider design that gradually moves into a very narrow end on the opposite side of the sofa. This piece is not designed to sit a lot of people on it for one time, but is more of a decorative piece due to its color and shape. Newtone comes in many colors to include: yellow, red, blue, and white. Designer: Massimo Iosa Ghini. More product information: here.
