Pictured here is the Chester sofa in white. In many ways it may look familiar to our readers since it is adapted from the classic Chesterfield sofa. For me the leather pattern is the give-away as it mirrors the roots of the old classic version. But this new version is anything but a traditional piece of furniture. I would say that there has been a complete overhaul! Designer Amanda Levete was influenced by the classic sofa and sculpture as well. Sculpture came into play in the creation of the polyurethane shell upon which the cushion sits. The cushion was then transformed into a complete new shape creating a modern version of the old classic. Chester is a limited edition sofa which measures 39" x 112" x 28". Price: $19,344. I am always a fan of the past and like pieces where the past can be worked into the present. For that reason "retro" design furniture grabs my attention. La Gondola is a leather sofa that gained my attention as such. La Gondolo is constructed of leather and a wood base. Fun and unusual are two good words to describe the "Bubble Rock" ultra modern sofa series from Living Divani of Italy. This series has been seen as an "archipelago of seating and support, round, trapezoid, and squared surfaces to be used as you wish". Living Divani accentuated the bold shape of the Bubble Rock sofa with equally dramatic colors that create a piece you can't take your eyes off of.
