Established & Sons works with some of the most creative product designers which is what makes their collection a must see. This time they have collaborated with designers Sebastian Wrong and Richard Woods to give a rather realistic visual to the Brick and Mortar Sofa that is surprisingly comfortable despite its rather non-conforming appearance. The straight line of the sofa added to the dimensional depth, and the scale of the individual piece has to be adjusted to the layout of the bricks so they corresponded with geometry of the object. Wrong and Woods collaborated on several other items including a chest of drawers and a low cabinet which share a strong visual as well. Visit Established & Sons here.

If you like a "curvy" look in sofas, then "Victoria" from Moroso Furniture certainly fits the bill. This sofa was designed by Ron Arad as an elegant piece that does not create an overstuffed look in a living room. The curves provide geometry that departs from more often found squares and rectangles to create a personality of its own. There is even a tasteful floral pattern that is hard to make work in modern furniture. Find Victoria: here.

I love the used of solid wood as a functional and aesthetic detail that reveals a sign of quality furniture. The PATMOS leather sofa from RIVA exudes a classic quality that has been part of the plan for three generation that combines "wooden blocks, set between or flanking the leather seat, thus turned into a useful and convenient surface". The Riva is an all Italian collection that features quality materials, strictly reforested timber (preferably solid timber), quality of production employing skilled craftsman, detailed finishes, ad hoc fixtures and fittings, natural oil and wax based treatments and detailed design quality. The PATAMOS divan is available in various compositions and dimensions, and if requested made in specific sizes. See the rest of the RIVA 1920 Italian furniture collection and find a point of sale here.

I have a healthy respect for snakes and don't go out of my way to find them. You can imagine my surprise in seeing a snake pit be the design inspiration in furniture. "Boa" is classified as a sofa, but really is an abstract piece of floor furniture that contains softly woven upholstery creating a large seating area. The weaves are movable so it is possible to curl up inside the weaves. For me I prefer a back support in my sofa models, but this may work as a seating area or day bed for an adventuresome decorator. One look at the Cipria Sofa from Edra Furniture makes you take a "double take". Not only are the colors bold, but the patchwork way in which it is pieced together challenges our concept of design. My first thought was going back to the disco era. I can totally see this in a bachelor's pad or at a disco nightclub. The colors and style totally fit that era. The funny thing is that I really like the Cipria Sofa and I know that "cushy" upholstery has to be totally comfortable. Find it: here.
