In today's world it is seldom that you find handmade furniture due to the advancements in manufacturing and technology. It is much cheaper and faster for upholstered furniture to be constructed using cost effective techniques rather than "bench made" one at a time. Handmade techniques are very labor intensive and as a result end with higher prices due to the many hours of human production time, but the product is more structurally sound and detailed. Featured here are some wonderful traditional sofas by E.J. Victor. You can imagine the labor and detail that goes into the manufacturing of each of these pieces. More information and pricing can be obtained at E.J. Victor.

When it comes to dramatic and bold lines backed by equally innovative quality and construction, Arketipo excels in the field. The Arketipo collection is geared mostly for the European market where their modern and contemporary Italian sofas styles are greatly appreciated. One of my favorite sectional sofas is the "Must" by designer Carlo Bimbi e Adriano Piazzesi which offers a multitude of components so you create a seating arrangement to fit your room and requirements. The striking feature of this seating system is the special wedge shape of the elements that is also equipped with a clever functional backrest adjustment to change the seat depth for optimal comfort. The scale of the Must is very light thanks to a thin linear construction and minimalist foot. Arketipo also has a stunning collection of chairs, beds and furniture accessories for the connoisseur of fine modern furniture Italian style.

Here is another outstanding original furniture design from Nina Edwards and her Nea Studio collection that is sure to be the focal point of any room it graces. The Twisted Sofa appropriately named is perfect for a modern interior that is focused on great looks and versatility. The flexible fabric covered L shaped Twisted Sofa incorporates a daybed and seat on the backside for a most versatile seating concept. After much testing, two types of foam were chosen, a firm foam for the seats and a softer foam for the back rests making a surprisingly comfortable experience, uncommon for a sofa possessing such dramatic visual appeal.

Modern home interiors offer chic living places to showcase your furniture tastes. For me, Italian couches create the perfect centerpiece for any living room and even smaller, more central floor plans such as lofts or flats. The couches featured here are made by Formenti of Italy. The red leather couch, called Eight, offers a classic design that can fit into many modern home settings. The Tresor, Matrix, and Kokkola all feature a combination of colors creating a nice contrast that can be built upon in your own decorating theme. These three Italian couches feature extra details like the nailhead trim. Website : Formenti of Italy (in Italian only).
