Small Cabinet Table from David Edward

The first is a storage drawer that is coated in laminate for easy cleaning should you need store things that may require cleaning from time to time. The second handle leads to a leave that comes out that acts as a writing surface. This is a neat feature if you need to write things such as if this were a bedside table. Interestingly enough, the design roots of this table were intended to be used as a nurse's bedside table. Notes could be taken on the leave while other items are stored in the drawer. It is much cheaper and faster for upholstered furniture to be constructed using cost effective techniques rather than "bench made" one at a time. Handmade techniques are very labor intensive and as a result end with higher prices due to the many hours of human production time, but the product is more structurally sound and detailed. Furniture Fashion has reported on some really sharp traditional beds this week from Burnhardt, and here is another outstanding canopy bed from Henredon. The St Regis collection is the newest knock out from a leader in American traditional furniture that throws any hint of cost cutting aside and creates the antiques of tomorrow. I would buy the St Regis bedroom set myself as it exudes a really masculine quality which gets inspiration from "turn-of-the-century gentlemen's clubs on both sides of the Atlantic." Feel the History in Bernhardts Smithsonian Bedroom Collection

Anything bearing the name Smithsonian better be bold and capable of holding its own against the critics. Bernhardt certainly has the history behind its reputation to back up this traditional yet casual collection with all the quality you should expect from one of America's best traditional furniture makers. The Smithsonian collection gets its inspiration from 18th and 19th century design with a touch of the West Indies and features pin knotty cherry veneers, acanthus leaf carving, solid brass hardware and Nero Blanc marble. I really like the simplistic lines of the armoire and night stands and their stark contrast to the intricate carvings of the posts of the canopy bed. Bernhardt also offers the Plantation poster bed in an equally attractive low post style.
