With the blessing of the Historical Natchez Foundation of Mississippi the Henredon furniture company has reinterpreted Mid-19th century Rococo Revival styling to bring the Natchez collection to life. This distinctly southern collection has been updated to work with today's modern homes while retaining its nostalgic appeal. Henredon has been a world class manufacturer of traditional furniture since 1945 and shows it here with intricate carvings, stunning scale, and precise detailing executed in rich mahogany and highly figured ash burl. It is very hard to pick a favorite but I really like the Natchez buffet server with its serpentine front and combination of wood and glass doors. The attention to detail is obvious from first glance, and as an owner of a full Henredon dining set from the 50's I can say the quality is not just surface deep. Finger joints and dove tails are some of the quality features you should expect from America's number one traditional furniture maker. W 76" D 24.5" H 38"

This end table was built by Heritage Henredon in North Carolina around 1955. This is from the Taliesin Line which had 61 pieces in its group and was named for Frank Lloyd Wright's home in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
Wright's history as a designer and architect is well documented. Though his buildings are his most famous contribution, he also contributed to the decorative arts as well largely in the area of furniture.
This end table from the Taliesin line has the classic series of carvings around its edges which identify the line. Frank Lloyd Wright was a master of shape and proportion and here he uses this technique to create a sense of fashion for the end table.
The Taliesin line from Heritage Henredon was short lived as it was not marketed well by the company and thus, did not perform well with the general public. There are pieces still available in the secondary furniture market today which can be identified by the carvings, manufacturer's stamp and signature of Frank Lloyd Wright. There is a sample image of the signature block and a better close up picture of the distinct carvings from this line.

When I think of my grandmother's place I think of a house full of older furnishings with steep roots in traditional design. Many of our design influences come from relatives and also the generation in which we live. It is funny today to see certain clothing come back in style that was in style twenty years ago. I also hear music that I grew up with that is now being used to advertise luxury goods such as a BMW.
Well my grandmother's era was characterized by fine wooden furniture designed by craftsmen with a flair for intricate details. Often, the elegant legs or arms would have etchings or carvings that provide additional detail and flair to the wood. I found this Chippendale dining table set and matching buffet table and was reminded of such details. First of all, the set is made of mahogany wood. Furniture made in mahogany is almost a rarity to find these days. Pieces are stained in colors that reminisce of the fine wood, but they are usually not made of mahogany. I also see the detail trim around the table created by small carvings to enhance the table's appearance. The chair backs also have matching carvings to create a flow to the room and to blend in with the table. The buffet table and matching china cabinet add to the steeped elegance of the room. This is a fine traditional set for any house. I would expect a grand dinner party to be served in this setting.

What is "bench made upholstery", and why should you buy it. It is the type of furniture that is made one at a time, by hand, with close attention to detail by skilled craftsman. The Dino Mark Anthony collection is just that, a very high quality series of bench made items that are quality through and through. Shown here is the Colin sofa that has a classic, slightly rolled arm with delicate wood accents, and small metal castors for an old world appeal. If you like this you will love their collection of upholstered beds, chaises, ottomans, and dining chairs. Dino Mark Anthony also has exquisite dining tables to go with their chairs, and night stands to accompany their beds all with a touch of traditional bordering on transitional.
